Brenda Benedict, M.A.
Director, Testing & Evaluation
Brenda is responsible for the initial testing and evaluation of students at the EUP Learning Centers. Based upon her findings and recommendations,tutors are able to focus their attention on the specific needs of each student. Brenda completed her Elementary Education degree at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids Michigan, and received her Michigan Teaching Certification. Her Master's work was completed at Calvin College with her Thesis focusing on Phonemic Awareness and Reading Readiness. She is currently pursuing her Doctoral degree, continuing her study in the area of Reading and Learning Disabilities.
Kathy VanderGalien has been a motivational speaker and seminar instructor for over 15 years. She is the President of Superior Technical Training in Grand Rapids, Michigan and teaches Business Improvement and Management Strategy seminars across the country. She has joined the staff of the EUP Learning Center and will be developing and presenting weekend seminars for local students that will focus on Study Habits, Learning Strategies and Motivational Coaching for Students. Kathy has a love for life and successful living and is looking forward to passing her enthusiam along to our Northern Michigan students.
The Administrators
Service. She completed 160 hours of Teacher Training at the William F. Boldger Management Academy in Potomac Maryland and many additional training hours at the Postal Employee Development Center in Lansing Michigan. Susie also completed 80 hours of Teacher Training instruction at the Child Evangelism Fellowship Headquarters in Warrenton Missouri, after which she served as a volunteer teacher-trainer for EUP churches and youth groups for five years. Susie has spent years teaching music to Northern Michigan students Susie is as enthusiastic about teaching as she is about learning, and she hopes to share this love for learning with students in the Eastern Upper Peninsula.
Susie currently serves as the Director of the EUP Learning Center. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Lake Superior State University and was selected as the Outstanding Education Graduate for 2009. For fourteen years she served as a Certified Management Instructor for the United States Postal

She is married to Chris and has two children, Alana and Kenneth. She enjoys spending time with her family, walking, getting together with friends, and beautiful days at the beach. Kara's sweet spirit and caring nature make her students feel comfortable, and helps them to reach the goals they
have set.
Kara was raised in Brimley and has recently returned to the area.
She earned her elementary teaching degree from Calvin College and taught in the Grand Rapids area for eight years.

Brenda is the mother of five children ranging in ages from 10 to 18. She has been married to her husband, Dan, for 22 years. She also has a laborador retriever named Coca and a tabby cat, Cleopatra.
Brenda graduated from Trinity Christian College with a BA in Secondary Science Education. She has also continued her educations through the Kellogg Biological Research Station through Michigan State University.
Brenda loves to read, sew and scrapbook and her favorite subjects are Chemistry and Biology.
